Manufacturing Drive will be closed on Monday, February 2nd, from South 21st Street to Valley West Drive. This road closure along the Manufacturing Drive project is due to the reconstruction of Mill Creek bridge. This phase of the project is expected to take up to 8 months to be constructed, with a completion date of September 30, 2026.
Road Closures & Detours:
To ensure public safety and facilitate construction, Manufacturing Drive will be closed to through traffic between Valley West Drive to South 21st Street throughout the duration of construction. All through traffic should follow the following designated detour routes using South14th Street and Highway 30 as a global detour around the project area.
Clear signage will be placed along the affected areas to direct traffic. Commuters should anticipate delays and consider alternate routes. Emergency vehicles will have access as needed. We appreciate your continued patience and cooperation as we work to improve our infrastructure.
Access to Local Businesses:
Businesses along Manufacturing Drive will remain open during construction. Customers are encouraged to use the following routes for access:
Access to SJ Smith will be open from the north along Manufacturing Drive from the intersection of South 21st Street.
Access to Awesome Car Wash, Laundry Max, Eastern Iowa Tire, and Brent’s Firehouse coffee will be open from the south along Manufacturing Drive from the intersection of Valley West Drive.
Temporary signage is in place to guide customers to businesses. Please review the detour map attached to this press release for further information. We appreciate the community’s patience and support during this period.
Future Phases:
A future notice will cover the remainder of the schedule for Manufacturing Drive in 2026, which will include reconstruction of the intersection of 21st Street and construction of a roundabout at South 19th Street.
