On December 31, 2025, officers from the Clinton Police Department received information of possible remains in a wooded area near railroad tracks in Clinton Iowa.
Upon arrival, in the area that was described officers located an area that had a previous fire. While checking the area of the fire officers located an unidentified type of skeletal remains. The remains were removed and sent to the State of Iowa for further examination to determine the type of remains and any other information possible.
The Iowa State Medical Examiner’s office has identified the remains as Cody M. French.
Based on the evidence obtained, authorities do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the public.
Currently, the investigation remains active and no further information is being released at this time.
