Clinton County Confirms No Data Compromise Following Cybersecurity Investigation

Clinton County officials announce that the forensic investigation of the cybersecurity incident that occurred on April 13th and 14th, 2026, has concluded. This investigation was led by external forensic cybersecurity experts who worked closely with Clinton County employees to investigate this incident.

After a thorough investigation, these external experts concluded that there was no impacted data within the Clinton County systems. Additionally, the investigation confirmed that the incident was detected and contained at a very early stage due to the rapid identification and response by County systems and cybersecurity professionals as part of our established incident response protocol. These external findings affirm that County data has remained secure from the outset of this incident and continues to be protected.

Clinton County has worked closely with cybersecurity experts to thoroughly assess our security measures as part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining the integrity, security, and reliability of our public systems. In light of this incident, the County has implemented additional safeguards and monitoring protocols that will remain in place to further strengthen our system security and help us prevent future incidents.

Members of the public can be assured that Clinton County takes cybersecurity seriously and will continue to prioritize the protection of sensitive information.
