City of Clinton Provides Update on Preliminary Data Center Discussions

The City of Clinton is aware of public interest regarding a potential data center development in an industrially zoned area of the community.

At this time, the City remains in the preliminary fact-finding stage. No formal development application has been submitted, no site plan has been submitted, no development agreement has been presented, and no final decision has been made by the City Council.

The City recognizes that data centers are a unique use and that residents have raised important questions regarding noise, water usage, utility demand, lighting, traffic, environmental protections, emergency response, and nearby property impacts. The City is actively reviewing these concerns.

The City is also reviewing possible ordinance language to establish clear standards for data center development. This review is not intended to prejudge the project, but to ensure Clinton has a responsible framework in place before any final decision is considered.

Before any final decision is made, there will be public discussion and opportunities for public input. If the project moves forward, the City would expect appropriate safeguards, conditions, and agreements to protect the public interest.

The City appreciates residents who have asked questions and shared concerns. The City continues to welcome public input from residents who have concerns, as well as from those who may support the project. The City remains committed to transparency, responsible planning, and decisions based on facts, verified information, and the long-term best interests of the Clinton community.
